This year we are embarking on a new adventure where we will promote wellness and positive mental health awareness in our school through the Amber flag initiative.
Firstly we set up The Croí Crew which is a group of students from each class level who are dedicated to promoting a positive atmosphere in our school.
Our first event was “Friendship Week” which was a huge success. Children in the senior classes were afforded the opportunity to “Buddy” up with the junior children. They played games, read stories and simply enjoyed each other’s company. Each day a positive affirmation in relation to friendship was discussed in class. The discussions around lessons on friendship proved to be very meaningful and highlighted the importance of what it means to be a good friend. We also had an Art competition in which three posters, were chosen to be displayed in each building to highlight the importance of friendship in our school.
Ms E. Burkes 1st class picked a secret friend who they tried extra hard to show kindness towards all week. We made friendship bracelets and exchanged them.
We also had an Art competition in which three posters, were chosen to be displayed in each building to highlight the importance of friendship in our school. The Croí Crew got together to choose the winning posters.
Worry boxes will also
be place in each classroom, so children will know there will always be someone
there to help.
Our second “Wellbeing Week” is fast approaching and we are looking forward to a most wonderful week in our school.
