Congratulations to our debating team who were in the Council Chambers in Naas yesterday to debate against the motion ‘Young people today do not care about the problems of the developing world. This was the final of the Primary Debating Festival sponsored by Kildare Libraries, Kildare Education Centre and Concern. 28 schools participated in this years competition.The team, consisting of Aoife Magee, Eimear Kavanagh, Alex Domsa, Kate Kessie, Olivia Bonnie and Maria Sandru, came out the victors once again and came home with the Primary Debating Festival Cup. The competition began in October and this was the teams 5th debate. The team put in a huge amount of time and effort to earn this achievement so we are absolutely delighted for them. Mention too must go to Mr. Greene and Eunice our Communications teacher for their great work in mentoring the team. They gave a visit to a few classes during the week to explain some of the process of getting to the finals. As a reward for winning the competition the team now get to go to Dáil Éireann to see how our TD’s debate motions that affect our country.
