After 37 years of loyal service to education in Kildare
Town, Ms. Cunningham has retired. Arriving from County Clare in 1984, as a
fresh-faced young teacher, she quickly established herself as a dedicated and
committed professional firstly in Scoil na Mainistreach de la Salle, and
subsequently in St. Brigid’s Primary School. Her care for the children she
taught and the colleagues she worked with will long be remembered, and there
were fitting tributes by the entire school community as she said “Goodbye” in each
of the buildings on her final day in our school. Her faithful service to the
children, particularly those with special educational needs will not be
forgotten. Her expertise and support for her colleagues was evidenced by her
involvement in Droichead and the NIPT, and her deep understanding of the
importance of attending to details, was fundamental to her educational beliefs.
As she would say herself “It’s the little things!!!”. A true leader, as a
teacher, colleague and as Deputy Principal, Ms Cunningham will be missed in our
school, but we wish her well in her next chapter and remind her that she will
always be a welcome visitor to the school.
