April

Even with 2 weeks of Easter holidays this month we managed to fit a lot in. We began the month with our school musical ‘Porridge’ which was a resounding success. See next post for more details. We had our annual Scholastic bookfair with the help of our fantastic Parent’s Association. Our reading libraries will be refreshed with the takings from the fair so thank you to all who supported us. Ella Stanford represented the school in the Leinster final of the Eason spelling bee. Some of the 2nd and 3rd classes went to Carlow to take part in the Challenge to Change project. We had more educational school tours. This time the second classes visited Abbeyleix Bog Project in Co. Laois and the third classes went to Kilkenny castle. The field is getting a lot of use this month with the good weather so we have had lots of matches, a play day and some of the staff are even out walking the track during their lunch breaks! The first classes welcomed in some of their parents and together they had lots of fun playing maths games together.

Finally, we said a sad goodbye to Margaret who has been a stalworth of St. Brigid’s Primary school and Scoil Bhríde Naofa before that for the past 44 years! We wish her well on her retirement and hope she will pop back in to see us from time to time.
